Are you thinking about working with young people and not sure how?
Dreamscheme is a project which will help you to develop a project and to get young people involved. If you are interested and want to be trained (this is essential) you need to attend the free 2 day training. The training is being held on the 14th/15th February at Leeds Tenant Federation. If you are interested please can you let me know or Naomi Brain. Spaces are limited.
Dreamscheme is community youth development based on a simple concept of WORK, POINTS and TRIPS. Young people are enabled to carry out community based work projects for which they earn points. These can then be exchanged for trips or activities of their choice. The key is in its simplicity to replicate across almost any estate or community. Dreamschemes exist as parts of Housing Associations; Residents' Associations; Community Safety Units; Regeneration Initiatives; or simply as a way for parents to ensure their children have something constructive to engage in. One of the key benefits we've observed is in the reduction of anti-social behaviour; the knock on effects of this have reached policing of the areas, improved living environments, raised expectations of the young people and improved communications and relationships between residents.
